What's up with gay folk and The Namesake?

So I went to see the Namesake recently (it was excellent, btw), and noticed that about half the people in the theatre were gay. Or at least, gay-lookin. What's up with that? Why do we love this movie?

Is it the whole guilt about parents thing or what?
